How to I get Involved in Democratic politics?

Have you wondered how to get involved in the local Democratic party and Wyandotte County political races? One way to get started is by attending our next 3rd Saturday Breakfast. You'll meet new people and learn about the latest races and activities. You can also talk to Scott Mackey or Bill H about volunteer needs for the breakfast -- we can always use more help. Becoming an active member of the Kansas Democratic Party is also important. By emailing or calling them to put your name on the roster, you ensure that you will get their regular mailings, "The Democrat". To learn more, visit their website at www.ksdp.org. The next key step is to find a campaign and volunteer to work on it. Volunteers are crucial to local races and candidates are always very appreciative of new faces and energy. Work can include helping set up events and socials, walking in the neighborhood to talk with voters, or delivering yard signs. Financial donations to parties and candidates are also an important way to contribute. It's not the size of the contribution that matters, but the act of giving and making a commitment. Make a small contribution to the candidate or organization that you like. A $25 or $40 donation will get you on their list and invited to the next social gathering. Beyond this, there are many clubs, independent political organizations and political websites. Go to our Links page for a taste of what's out there.
